Hi! My name is Dr. Danielle Bacibianco, you can call me Dani! My pronouns are she/her.
I am an independent scholar, who teaches Writing, Rhetoric, and Women and Gender Studies courses.
My dissertation, “Queerstory of Recovery: Literacy and Survival in A.A. (2021)”, received the 2022 Conference on College Composition and Communication Lavender Rhetorics National Award for Excellence in Queer Scholarship Dissertation Award.
My interdisciplinary scholarship engages topics such as autoethnography, addiction recovery community literacy, queer studies, and public rhetoric, blending qualitative methods with writing studies, across her research and pedagogy.

Aside, my original 60-minute play, The Plans We Made, was invited to take the stage at the Midtown International Theatre Festival (New York City, June 2026).
Most recently, my creative writing has been published in FemiNICHE, Anti-Heroin Chic and Double Speak Literary Magazine.

As of April 2020, I am a co-founder of the online sober initiative on Discord, “Sober Academics” (previously named “We Academics”).
I am also the founder of the podcasts, Queerstories of Recovery: Voices from the Margin, and the former, Voices from Rock Bottom via Maker Park Radio – NYC.
As a queer, sober academic, I’m currently at work on a book project that bridges the personal and the political, the institutional, and the queer experience through autoethnography.
